Achoura est une fête musulmane, auparavant juive. Les chiites donnent cette fête en souvenir du martyre Hussein, petit-fils du prophète Mahomet. L’événement est marqué par des actions en faveur des défavorisés et des enfants, la musique des petits tambours le soir, une compétition de joutes poétiques entre villageois et des chants et des rituels jusque très tard la nuit.

Achoura is a Muslim festival, previously Jewish. The Shi-ites celebrate this festival in memory of the martyr Hussein, grandson of the prophet Mohammed. The festival is noted for its events for the disadvantaged and for children, for the music of small drums in the evenings, poetry competitions between villagers, chants and rituals until late at night.
